Job Description
The Army psychological operations specialist is also an information and media specialist helping in communication efforts. This specialist is primarily responsible for analyzing, developing and distributing material for informational and psychological effect. Duties include:
- Researching and analyzing ways to influence foreign populations
- Developing or distributing marketing and media materials, such as handbills, brochures and commercials
- Operating and maintaining related equipment

Training
To become an Army psychological operations specialist, you must complete nine weeks of basic training, which consists of basic soldiering skills, and 11 to 15 weeks of advanced individual training. You will then complete three weeks of airborne training and then four to six months of language training. Instruction covers:
- Analytical methods and procedures
- Research techniques
- Development, production and dissemination of messages and products
- Computer skills
- Preparation of related reports
- Use of related equipment, including weaponry and vehicles
