| Job Description |
The safety of aircraft personnel and their success in missions depend on the efficiency of the Army aircraft armament/missile systems repairer. This specialist is primarily responsible for performing maintenance on the electrical, electronic, mechanical and pneudraulics systems associated with aircraft armament, missile and fire control systems. Duties include:
· Maintaining aircraft armament/missile systems and related components
· Troubleshooting and repairing
· Soldering electrical connections
· Repairing or replacing instruments, such as tachometers, temperature gauges and altimeters
Training
To become an Army aircraft armament/missile systems repairer, you must complete nine weeks of basic training, which consists of basic soldiering skills, and 20 weeks of advanced individual training. Classroom and in-the field instruction covers:
· Troubleshooting procedures
· Electrical theory and maintenance
· Techniques for soldering
Helpful skills
· Be interested in mathematics, electricity and shop mechanics
· Have an aptitude for solving problems
· Be able to work with the related tools
In time, you may achieve an advanced level for an Army aircraft armament/missile systems repairer with additional duties in supervision and training. |
