| Job Description |
The Air Force structural apprentice plays an important role in building Air Force buildings and structures. This specialist is primarily responsible for constructing, maintaining, planning and repairing wooden, masonry and concrete structures. Duties also include installing interior and exterior trim and constructing interior furnishings such as lockers and closets.
Training
Nearly every Air Force enlisted soldier undergoes six weeks of basic training, which consists of basic skills needed for Air Force activities. Advanced individual training is usually required for specialization. The length of time needed for advanced training varies depending on the area of specialization.
Helpful skills
The ideal candidate for an Air Force structural apprentice should:
- Be interested in masonry, machine shop work, electricity and carpentry
- Have an interest in machinery
- Be able to use the necessary tools |
