| Job Description |
In the middle of the battlefield or the calm of peacetime, the Army armor crewman must stand ready. This specialist primarily focuses on operating armored equipment and fire weapons. Duties include:
• Detecting and identifying targets
• Loading and operating guns
• Communicating with two-way radios and signaling equipment
• Operating gun and firing controls and related vehicles
• Securing battle positions and helping in positioning maneuvers
Training
To become an Army armor crewman, you must complete nine weeks of basic training, which consists of basic soldiering skills, and six weeks of One Station Unit Training. Classroom and in-the-field instruction covers:
• Tank operations
• Tactics on armor offense and defense
• Map reading
• Techniques on reconnaissance and field combat
