Navy and National Guard Law Enforcement Job Duties

As a law enforcement officer with the US Navy or National Guard, you may be responsible for providing security for facilities or for visiting officers or other officials. You will also perform other law enforcement tasks such as enforcing regulations, providing perimeter security and, in some situations, crowd control. You may be assigned to train and care for working dogs, such as those used to detect drugs or explosives. Your military training will include formal schooling and on-the-job training, and may count as credits which can be transferred to a college to help you earn an associate's or bachelor's degree. The self-discipline and professionalism you will learn as part of your Navy or National Guard training will help you find a civilian job in law enforcement. Your training can help you become a private investigator or police officer in the private sector.
